Ofcom: Gauging the competitiveness of the UK cloud services market

Ofcom, the UK’s broadcasting and telecoms regulator, launched an investigation in the competitiveness of the market for cloud services, specifically Infrastructure and Platform-as-a-Service (IaaS and PaaS), and wished to gather in-depth insight into the experience of businesses using or considering these services.

Our wide-ranging study encompassed 50 one-to one  interviews and a survey of 1000 UK businesses. We explored the topic from all angles, including the benefits of cloud, usage and attitudes of IaaS and PaaS, perceptions of cloud vendors, and a deep dive on switching, specifically the extent to which firms feel locked-in by vendors’ policies.

As well as informing Ofcom’s market investigations, our findings have now been published as part of Ofcom’s interim report and can be downloaded via the link below.
